The morning dawn aches as I awake,
From the yawning of my eyelids
I see the pale glow of a new day,
And feel betrayed.
Shutting my eyes from the light,
I try to slip again into that world,
A world of bliss and unrealities,
Of heroic adventures and unbridled peace.
Sleep sings sweet lullabies,
The world whispers wrongful lies,
So let me return to my fantasy,
To a land beyond the stars.
For amidst the sea of the subconscious,
Luscious lakes of the illusory,
And forgotten remembrances of yesterday,
She is there.
No longer separated by ocean waves,
Or the eternal summer months,
I find her in my dreams,
And must not be awoken.
In silence, our fingers interlaced,
We watch the world collapse around,
The ghosts of reality shunned,
As the ocean vanishes into nothing.
But the light of the morning drifts in,
And I am torn from my slumber,
Our hands torn from one another;
The ocean that separates is true reality.
But we freeze the moment to last,
As ocean waves crash high and wide,
Until the end of the dream,
I will not leave your side.
